Jaipur is the capital city of Rajasthan, It is also called as “pink city” because of the pink walls and buildings of the old city. It’s a place of unimaginable splendour and myriad experiences. There are many popular tourists attractions and places to visit are the ancient palaces and forts. Here is the list of some places that you must visit in Jaipur.

 

Hawa Mahal:

 

Constructed in 1799, It has five floors that contain rows of small windows and screens.  Hawa Mahal is a palace with thousands of tiny windows. It’s also referred as the palace of the winds. From the top of the palace you get a spectacular view of the city below. A panoramic view can be had from the top of the building.

Entry Cost: Rs.200 for foreigners and 50 Rupees for Indians

Opening Hours:  9 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. daily.

 

Nahargarh Fort:

 

This fort was built in 1734 to help defend the city. It’s also known as Tiger Fort. The fort is located at high in Aravali Hills who overlooking Jaipur city. The best sunset view you get from the top of the fort. A newly opened wax museum and sculpture park also attracting tourists.

Entry cost: Rs. 200 for foreigners and 50 Rupees for Indians.

Opening Hours:  Sunrise to sunset, daily. Palace opens from 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. daily.

 

Jantar Mantar Observatory:

 

Jantar Mantar Observatory is among the most popular tourist places in Jaipur. Jantar Mantar is the largest stone astronomical observatory in the world. It was built by King Jai Singh II between  1727-1734. There are 14 structures in total which measures time, predict eclipses and track stars. The highlight of is huge Samrat Yantra sundial, At a height of 90 feet, it has a shadow that moves roughly the width of a person's hand every minute.

Entry Cost: Rs. 200 for foreigners and Rs. 50 for Indians

Opening Hours:  9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. daily.

 

Amber Fort and Palace:

 

It takes around half an hour’s drive from the city centre, lies at top of the Aravali Hills and forms a beautiful reflection across Maotha Lake. It’s architectural masterpiece and it was the home of Rajput rulers until Jaipur city was constructed. It contains a series of breathtaking palaces, halls, gardens and temples. Evening’s sound and light show is an attraction that brings the fort’s history.

Entry Cost: 500 rupees for foreigners. 100 rupees for Indians. Night entry into the fort is 100 rupees per person.

Opening Hours: 8 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. during the day, and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at night. Note that elephant rides are only possible in the mornings until 11.30 a.m.

 

City Palace:

 

City Palace is home of the royal family of Jaipur, the family was the one of the richest in India. The palace’s huge complex with big gardens, courtyards and buildings with Rajasthani and Mughal architecture are amaze’s tourists. It’s possible to access the private rooms with a personal guide, for an additional cost. A collection of old Indian weapons, royal costumes and art gallery are amazing.

Entry Cost: There are various ticket options for the City Palace, depending on how much of it you want to see. Prices start from 130 rupees for Indians and 500 rupees for foreigners. Museum @ Night tickets cost 900 rupees for foreigners and 450 rupees for Indians.

Hours: 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. And 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. for night viewing.
