It offers easy accessibility to the main part of the city through both road and rail and is about 5-7 kilometres from Aundh and Baner.The bus services of Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) connect Wakad to area like Aundh, Pimple Saudagar and Pimple Nilakh. It also offers an easy connectivity to Railway Station which is about 12 kilometre away. Aundh is just 8 kilometre from Central via University road and taking the Aundh- Road will lead you toward Airport which is about 20 kilometre from Wakad. The - Bypas, Pimpri- Industrial area and Super Express Highway to Mumbai are also accessible from Wakad. A 120 ft. road connecting Baner, Balewadi and Wakad is currently under construction. In order to offer a smooth and traffic free drive from Wakad to Pimple Nilakh, a new flyover is being constructed that will start from Dangri Chowk in Wakad and will go up to Nagar in Pimple Nilakh.Wakad has a number of renowned college like Indira School of Communication, D Y Patil Engineering College, Global Academy of Hotel Management and Kesari College. There are also several good international, state and CBSE board school in the area including Podar International School, International School, Dhaniraj School, M N P High School and High School. Apex Hospital, Phoenix Hospital, Varad Hospital, Life Point Hospital and Tikone Hospital are some of the well-known hospital in the area catering to the medical need of the resident of Wakad.
